Troodos Mountains are the highest point of Cyprus. Truth is that in winter and spring, one can actually visit Troodos to Ski and 2 hours later could be lying in the sun on the beach. No wonder it is known as the Small-Switzerland!
The excursion begins in Paphos, heading towards the Northeast into the Paphos forest, passing through some picturesque Wine Villages, towards the Cedar Valley/Stavros tis Psokas.
At Stavros tis Psokas there is a "Cyprus Moufflon" reserve, where we will have the chance to admire the only animal of its kind in the world.
Next stop is a coffee break and onto the dirt-track roads to Kykko Monastery also known as the "Golden Monastery". It is the richest and most famous on the Island.
A visit to the Museum of Kykko with breathtaking exhibits and chapel will give the traveller a cultural experience of the Island.
Next is Lunch at Pedhoulas with plenty of food and local Village wine before heading towards Mount Olympus, the highest point on the island (1951m) for a panoramic view of Cyprus.
Downhill, we head towards Omodos, the cherry village of Cyprus, towards Paphos passing through Traditional Villages on the way. We also visit the famous birthplace of Aphrodite.
To enter the Kykko Monastery the dress code is
no shorts and knees and shoulders are to be covered. We also suggest that comfortable shoes are a must for this Safari.
