If you want to stay in a Protaras hotel, but intend to do some sightseeing, you certainly won’t be disappointed; this area has plenty to offer other than sun and sand.
Only next door for anyone staying in a Protaras hotel, is the famous resort of Ayia Napa, and although renowned for its nightlife it does have some historical sights, probably the best being the 16th century monastery right in the centre of the town.
Also worth a visit is the tiny Ayios Elias Church, which sits 100 metres up on a hillside. Although it is quite a climb to reach the top, the spectacular view from the church is well worth the 100 or so steps. If you are lucky enough to catch the sunset from the top, make sure you have your camera with you!
Protaras is the ideal combination resort, with plenty to see and do, and some of the best beaches on the island, Konnos Beach and of course, Fig Tree Bay being the most popular.
