In the North West of Cyprus you will find the pretty town of Polis and the neighbouring fishing port of Latchi, which are ideal resorts for a tranquil and ‘get away from it all' holiday.

Being on the outskirts of the beautiful Akamas Peninsula makes Polis the ideal base for exploring this wild expanse of unspoiled, rugged scenery, which is expected to become a National Park in the not so distant future.

The tiny village of Latchi stretches along 3km of coastline with a sand/shingle beach and the excellent fish tavernas found here are famous island wide. A short 5km drive away is Polis, a small transitional agricultural town bursting with Cypriot culture. Life revolves around the main town square, here you can mingle with the locals and enjoy the atmosphere of a typical Cypriot village.

Polis and Latchi holiday guide. A place of natural beauties and a lot of culture exploration.

Polis Town
Here you will find cafes, snack restaurants, tavernas and a small number of shops. For fresh produce you can visit the market where local fruit and vegetables are sold.

Leisurely evenings can be spent discovering new places to eat followed by a nightcap in one of the local bars. The nearest beach is approximately 1kilometre from Polis Square.

Latchi
A quiet, fishing village with a lovely harbour and an abundance of superb fish tavernas.

Take advantage of the watersports on offer here and maybe even enjoy a boat trip to Akamas.

The Akamas Peninsula
This stunning area of outstanding natural beauty, the mining town of Limni, Aphrodite's Baths and Argaka Forest are all a short distance from either Polis Town or Latchi.

The Local Museum of Marion-Arsinoe
This interesting museum in Polis was opened to the public in 1998 and consists of two exhibition rooms and the Atrium.

The Museum houses objects from the local area and portrays its' development through the ages, from the Neolithic to Medieval times.

The Polis Culture Centre
Another interesting museum is the Polis Culture Centre which is a modern day building complete with theatre stage and seating for 400 people. They also have an exhibition centre which holds another 250.

Baths of Aphrodite
According to the legend, Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love and Fertility, used to meet and bathe with her lover Adonis here. Rumour has it that washing your face in the water here makes you look ten years younger! Very close to Polis, this is a pretty area and well worth a visit.
