The south coast town of Limassol is Cyprus’ largest seaside resort. For ten miles along the coast, behind Limassol are the Troodos Mountains, where most of the country's grapes are grown.

Holidays to Limassol are the perfect base for exploring this vast mountainous region. Since the middle Ages, Limassol has been renowned for its wine and sugar cane. Now, Limassol is the centre of the islands’ wine-making industry, and is a very important commercial centre.

The town has a friendly, holiday atmosphere, with an attractive wide seafront promenade and busy little shopping streets, Holidays to Limassol certainly have something for everyone.

Holidays to Limassol - the largest seaside resort on the island.

Limassol stages some of the Islands best-known festivals and Holidays to Limassol during these times are great fun: the annual Wine Festival is held in September, when the various wineries offer free samples of their products for ten days: the ten day pre-Lenten Carnival with masquerade parties, balls and grand parades is also held here, before the Limassol Festival in summer and the ancient Drama Festival which is held in Kourions ancient theatre.

Other interesting places to visit during holidays to Limassol are:

Limassol Castle, where Richard the Lionheart married Queen Berengaria of Navarre in 1191 and crowned her Queen of England, and for families with children, The Municipal Gardens with small zoo offers a pleasant change from the beach.

Sanctuary of Apollo (Kourion)
Located about 3km from the main site, this is the chief religious centre of ancient Cyprus. Apollo was worshipped as the God of the Woodland and the protector God of Kourion. Excavation brought to light evidence that worship to Apollo started here as far back as 800 BC and continued to the 400 AD.
