Fig Tree Bay Cyprus was the main reason for the development of the resort of Protaras. Next to Nissi Beach, Fig Tree Bay Cyprus is the most popular beach on the island and it is the favourite with locals.

This stunning beach is marked by an old fig tree which, according to local legend, was brought here by invaders in the 17th century.

A few hundred metres away from the beach at Fig Tree Bay Cyprus, there is a small island which plenty of swimmers choose to explore. Those who do plan on swimming to the island should take shoes with them because the island is made up of some very sharp rocks.

The Fig Tree Bay Cyprus beach also has numerous water-sports facilities and cafes, to cater for the tourists and the main road is lined with more restaurants and tourist shops.
