Day 3: Kouklia Village/Birthplace of Aphrodite/Kurium/ Kolossi/
and Troodos Mountains.
Drive from Paphos in the morning towards Limassol on the Highway and stop by the village of Kouklia in order to see the sanctuary of Aphrodite and later the birthplace of Aphrodite with the spectacular views that the area has to offer.
Soon after the birthplace of Aphrodite, is the Kurium Theatre with it's various sites such the Apollo Sanctuary and the Odeon, the house of Achilles and the Gladiators' house. Enjoy some spectacular views of the area and then head into the Kolossi Castle of Richard the Lionheart, see the Castle and then drive upwards towards the Troodos Mountains and Kykko Monastery. When you reach there visit the museum of Kykko where you can see some fascinating handicraft items, some of which took a lifetime to be made and have lunch at a local taverna at Platres or Olympus mountains, then head downhill back to Paphos.
In order to manage visiting all the sites, you will have to start out very early in the morning and arrive back late afternoon. The roads in Troodos Mountains despite being acceptable, do have some sudden uphill and downhill drops on the way to Troodos, but the price is small to pay in order to see the cherry and wine producing villages of Troodos.
This is a highly recommended route to see the different landscapes and cultural heritage.
